Applications to secondary school are all co-ordinated by the Local Authority. Please click here to visit the London Borough of Sutton's website for further information and to make an application.

The closing date for applications for entry in September 2025 is 31st October 2024; you will be notified of the outcome on 1st March 2025 (National Offer Day).

HOW DO I SELECT A SECONDARY SCHOOL FOR MY CHILD?

We are very lucky to have a number of excellent secondary schools in Sutton. There are also different types of school, for example some that have a selective element (a test pupils need to sit before gaining entry), single sex or specialist education providers.

We would recommend considering the following:

Location: how far do you feel comfortable with your child travelling? Would you prefer a school they can walk to each day or will they manage getting a bus to and from school?

Type of school: would you like your child to attend a non-selective (comprehensive) or selective (grammar) school? Do you want them to attend a school with only boys or girls, or a mixed school? Do you feel they would thrive better in a non-mainstream secondary school?

Impression: we highly recommend attending open days, tours (virtual or in person) and visiting the school websites. This will give you a sense of the school, allowing you and your child to discuss whether they would be happy there.
